Anyone who has been to Disney World (pre-covid) with littles has probably spent their fair share of time waiting in line to meet their prince or princess' favorite character for that coveted photo and autograph....or was up at 6am est (better yet, their Skye's the Limit Vacations Travel Advisor was up at 6am) hastily scheduling those hard-to-get character meals. When Disney announced that there would not be any character meet-and-greets and very limited character meals once they reopened, a lot of fans felt they would miss out on those special moments.
I am here to share the MAGIC of character interactions is still alive! They may look different than pre-covid times, but in a lot of ways we actually prefer the new way.
Character Selfies
Throughout the Disney World Parks, and even at the resorts, some of your favorite characters will be available at a distance for waving, blowing kisses, and of course, selfies! To date, we have not had to wait in line for any of our character selfies, which is awesome.
There is something magical about rounding a corner and seeing a character waving excitedly to see you your children. Who am I kidding? The characters are just as much for us Disney loving adults as they are our littles.
We love the surprise element of characters in unexpected places, not waiting in any lines, and seeing characters we would not normally encounter.
Character Dining
Disney World currently has a select few Character dining experiences available. During these meals, characters make an appearance and are available for selfies and waves. There are no autograph opportunities and no hugs or touching. You may be surprised with a souvenir with autographs.
These reservations can be difficult to secure, so plan on your travel advisor making those selections as soon as they open up for your travel dates!
Character Cavalcades
Just imagine....you and your littles just got off your favorite attraction at Magic Kingdom. They are jumping up and down with joy. Suddenly they hear faint music in the distance. "What is that, Mommy?" You grab their hands and hurry to the main thoroughfare just in time to see a character cavalcade approaching! Oh, the excitement! Within seconds your littles see some of their favorite characters ride by, waving and blowing kisses towards them. The kids are dancing and waving as hard as their little bodies will allow. "Mommy, she drew a heart in the air for me! She LOVES me!"
These moments, they are pure MAGIC!
